From Vent to the Similaun Hut
After a relaxing day at the Aquadome we headed towards Vent where we joined the route again. Now we had to carry heavy backpacks with a lot of technical gear for the Similaun summit, but after all the miles of walking that did not create any problems for us. More problematic was the deteriorating weather: as usual on hot summer days thunderstorms develop in the afternoon, and today was no exception. Staying for a lunch at the Martin Busch Hut on the way did not help either, so the last kilometer we were running in front of thunderstorm clouds and just made it to the Similaun Hut before all hell broke loose. Inside the hut was.. Italia! Or South Tyrol as the staff emphasized, whatever.. the food was great!
